Chargeable kilo weight (air freight rates) are calculated on a weight or cube basis and quoted per kg/6 dm³. The formula for chargeable weight by size is: Cube times 1,000,000 / 6000”. The weight declared on the Airway Bill of lading is then the greater of the two.
This is also known as the volume ratio (1:6 or 1 m³ = 167 kg). That means you either pay for the weight or the space necessary for the transport of your consignment.
