AMCO has secured a new logistics contract with British manufacturer, HepcoMotion. Part of the Hepco Group of companies established in 1969, HepcoMotion is a world-leading provider of linear motion systems and automation components.

With its state-of-the-art manufacturing plant in Devon, England, and a 3,000m2 distribution facility in the Netherlands, HepcoMotion operate worldwide, serving multiple industry sectors through a network of trusted distributors.

LOGISTICS REQUIREMENT

HepcoMotion approached AMCO to support with the opening of its brand new 3,000m2 distribution facility in the Netherlands, which was built to better serve its EU customer base.

Due to the nature of its bespoke products, manufacturing plant in England, and brand-new distribution centre in the Netherlands, HepcoMotion needed an experienced, reliable logistics provider to move its products from the UK to the Netherlands, and then onto its European customers.

LOGISTICS SOLUTION

AMCO proposed a tailored 3PL logistics solution comprising logistics packaging, road transport from HepcoMotion’s manufacturing site in Tiverton to the port of Dover, onward sea freight across the English Channel to the port of Calais, pre-lodged customs clearance into the EU, and final-leg road transport to its distribution centre in Veghel, Netherlands.

In addition, AMCO also proposed various European road transport solutions, distributing HepcoMotion’s customer orders from its distribution centre in Veghel, direct to end customers across Europe.

PRODUCT MOVEMENTS

Operating 24/7, AMCO carry out five journeys a week from HepcoMotion’s manufacturing plant in Devon, to its distribution centre in the Netherlands, where the goods are offloaded and stored securely within HepcoMotion’s warehousing facility.

Onward distribution across Europe to HepcoMotion’s end customer requires a slightly different approach, beginning with specialist packaging and secure loading of goods, which could be anything from a small box to heavy products 2 or 5 metres in length.

Distribution across Europe is fulfilled through the deployment of local van deliveries, groupage, and a dedicated courier service for long-distance journeys, some of which require specialist out-of-gauge solutions and vehicles.

TRICIA DART, HEPCOMOTION EU BRAND MANAGER

“We reached out to the team at AMCO to help with exports post-Brexit. AMCO’s support and proactive assistance during this turbulent time has proved invaluable and has forged a relationship that stands strong after nearly 12 months of shipping.

The two companies are now about to begin, the second year of cross-docking via HepcoMotion’s new E.U Hub in Veghel, Netherlands. I can report that during this year of daily collections by AMCO from our Tiverton Head Office and onward distribution throughout Europe, we have seen zero failed deliveries and zero damaged parcels!

This service reflects HepcoMotion’s drive to deliver continuous quality improvement and provide Customer Care with a conscience.”
