Specialised haulage companies like AMCO are the go-to providers of choice when it comes to offering UK and European-based manufacturing businesses dependable and affordable UK and European road freight services.

By partnering with the best haulage company, you gain access to a range of invaluable services that can revolutionise your supply chain management and provide you with tangible cost savings and increased efficiency.

Well-established, resourced and well-connected logistics and transport experts like AMCO can provide massive benefits to any business of any size when it comes to moving goods by road anywhere in the UK or Europe.

NOTHING IS TOO BIG, TOO SMALL, OR TOO FAR FOR AMCO.

The top line is that we can offer UK and European road freight services for any type of transport and any type of goods.

AMCO provide FCL (Full Container Loads), LCL (Less than Container Loads), FTL (Full Truckload), and LTL (Less than Truckload) road freight transport services. For instances where a container isn’t suitable, we provide curtain-sided trucks.

Milk Runs and Groupage around Europe are an everyday occurrence for the AMCO Transport fleet.

If it’s Out of Gauge (OOG), we can custom supply vehicles depending on the specific requirement.

What’s Out of Gauge? OOG is cargo that cannot be loaded onto a standard vehicle because its dimensions i.e. height, width and length are too big, or weight is too great, or a combination of both.

Dangerous Goods?

Transporting dangerous goods across Europe requires adherence to international regulations, regardless of the mode of transport – be it air, sea, road, rail, or inland waterway. These goods must be packaged and transported in accordance with these guidelines.

The carriage of such goods is governed by European agreements, directives, and regulations, which are mirrored by legislation in the UK.

AMCO possesses extensive expertise in managing some of the most complex multi-risk shipments known to the industry. Compliance with stringent industry standards is part and parcel of our operations.

Our team boasts specialised knowledge of all dangerous goods classifications. With our experience in transporting a diverse range of dangerous goods by road across Europe, in-house expertise, full accreditation, and a reliable international network, we are well-positioned to provide a comprehensive and secure service, all at competitive rates.

OUR FLEET

Our fully owned fleet in the UK is over 60 vehicles comprised of a wide range of tractor units and trailers, including mega trailers. We have small vans, low loaders, flatbed trucks, container and curtain-sided trailers. Part of our fleet utilises solar power technology, assisting in our ambition to be green and reduce our carbon emissions.

As part of our ongoing efforts to reduce our carbon emissions, AMCO has achieved Planet Mark certification. Planet Mark certification is a prestigious accreditation awarded to organisations that demonstrate measurable progress in reducing their carbon footprint.

ACCUSTOMED TO CUSTOMS

As far as UK and European road freight and transport of goods is concerned, it does not matter to us where your business is based. We speak over 15 languages and are fully supported by expertise in all things to do with customs procedures and clearances globally.

When it comes down to UK and European road freight, clear communication is absolutely critical. We do not expect our customers to fully understand customs procedures which is why we are here to help assist and give advice on all matters to do with importing and exporting, documentation and regulations, including duty and excise.

We can take all of the customs management under our wing and guarantee you compliance with the swift execution of required customs procedures and clearances.

In terms of expediting goods through customs and excise, AMCO is AEO-certified (An Authorised Economic Operator). An Authorised Economic Operator (AEO) like AMCO is a trusted player in the international supply chain. Our AEO status is recognised globally, meaning AMCO’s role within the global supply chain is secure and meets the standards of the World Customs Organisation (WCO) SAFE framework.

To put it simply, AEO is a quality mark. It indicates that AMCO’s customs controls, security and procedures are efficient and compliant. But what does this mean for businesses, and why should you consider working with a UK and European freight and transport partner with AEO status?

More efficient transport of your goods through borders
Less or no border checks
Less risk and more effective checks on the reliability of third parties
Potentially lower insurance premiums in the future
More efficient import/export systems for those involved
AEO Certified

The advantages brought about by AMCO having AEO status are efficiency, productivity, faster customs checks and clearances; all adding value and are tangible customer benefits. So effectively, when it comes down to UK and European road freight, we will pass through customs borders much faster and efficiently than any haulage or transport company without AEO status.

Alongside the laws, rules and regulations of Customs and Excise across different countries, is, of course, health and safety.  Great Britain (England, Scotland and Wales) is no longer in a safety and security zone with the EU. Safety and security export requirements are applicable on any goods leaving GB and this includes any shipment moved in Roll on Roll off (RoRo) vehicles, empty pallets and containers, and any vehicle moving to the EU under a transport contract.

FACTOID

‘Roll on Roll off’, often abbreviated as RoRo, is a term derived from the method by which vehicles are loaded onto and unloaded from specially designed RoRo ships. Vehicles are effortlessly driven onto the ship using its built-in loading ramps at the departure port (hence ‘Rolled on’), and similarly, they are driven off upon reaching the destination (thus ‘Rolled off’).

AMCO is committed to staying on top and up-to-date, with all forms of customs and health and safety legislation, on a global basis so you don’t have to. We are always clear on clearances!

For all of our UK and European transport, we will allocate you a dedicated account contact. Of course, the rest of the team are always available, but a single point of contact improves communication at AMCO. We believe that good communication helps you have complete visibility and control over your shipments.

Having a dedicated account contact helps to develop our partnership, we gain a better understanding of your unique and individual requirements, enabling us to provide support and advice, both proactively and reactively.

France

AMCO Destock, based in Dunkirk, France, operates a 30,000 sq. ft. bonded warehouse and distribution centre that serves as the perfect gateway for importing containerised goods into the EU.

In essence, this facility is set up to handle the storage and distribution of non-perishable, perishable, and chilled goods. Through our partnership with Destock Logistics, we ensure that goods are cleared through customs and stored under bond, ready for onward distribution to designated EU destinations.

As the importer, AMCO Destock takes the responsibility of ensuring all necessary customs documents are in place and that there are no restrictions or prohibitions on the goods being shipped. Once all these conditions are met, the Customs Authority releases the goods into ‘free’ circulation.

The aim of this ‘free circulation’ release is to complete all import formalities, allowing goods to be sold on the European Union Market just like any other EU-produced product. This process not only accelerates deliveries across Europe but also eliminates the need for individual clearances as goods are cleared directly into Europe. In turn, this significantly reduces paperwork and prevents potential delivery bottlenecks.

British International Freight Association (BIFA)

AMCO is a proud member of the British International Freight Association (BIFA).

Founded in 1940, BIFA serves its members by providing up-to-date and relevant information about industry progressions, regulatory shifts, trade strategies, and market trends. Furthermore, BIFA encourages compliance with industry standards and best practices. It also provides educational programs, workshops, and certifications for its members, including AMCO.

In essence, being part of BIFA augments the professional skills and expertise of AMCO’s staff. This, in turn, boosts operational efficiency and ensures the maintenance of high service standards for our customers.
