In our ongoing commitment to reliability and environmental responsibility, AMCO is thrilled to announce a significant investment to its fleet of UK transport vehicles: 5 brand-new Mercedes Actros L trucks. These impressive trucks are already at AMCO Park and are ready to make a positive impact on our business operations. This is also another step forward along our sustainability-focused ‘road map to the future’ project.

ACTROS L

The Actros cab is one of the best on the market. It is a game changer for long-distance and heavy-duty distribution haulage. Featuring pioneering innovations, this truck was built with enhanced efficiency and reliability in mind. Everything has been designed to make the Actros’ fuel consumption as low as possible.

A GREENER FUTURE WITH EURO VI ENGINES

One of its standout features is its Euro VI engine, which delivers exceptional fuel efficiency. This innovation significantly contributes to reduced fuel consumption, aligning perfectly with AMCO’s ‘green’ technology initiative. But that’s not all – there are several other factors at play in these trucks that further enhance their efficiency.

CONSUMPTION-REDUCING DRIVE PROGRAMS

The Actros L truck is equipped with specialised consumption-reducing drive programs. These programs optimise various aspects of the vehicle’s performance, ensuring that every drop of fuel is utilised efficiently.

OPTIMISED REAR AXLE RATIO

The Actros L also boasts an optimised rear axle ratio, which plays a crucial role in reducing fuel consumption. This clever engineering will help AMCO to cut the fuel costs of its UK transport vehicles and lower carbon emissions.

MIRRORCAM AND PREDICTIVE POWERTRAIN CONTROL

State-of-the-art MirrorCam technology replaces conventional mirrors, contributing to fuel savings of up to 1.3% compared to standard mirrors. Additionally, these trucks feature the further-developed Predictive Powertrain Control system, which will enhance AMCO’s fleet’s fuel efficiency even further.

FINELY HONED AERODYNAMICS

The aerodynamics of the Actros L has also been specifically designed to minimise drag. This engineering feat results in even lower fuel consumption, making this truck an eco-friendly choice.

CONSUMPTION-OPTIMISED TURBOCHARGERS

The Actros L comes equipped with newly developed turbochargers that are optimised for consumption, resulting in lower fuel usage compared to previous models. This not only reduces costs but also minimises CO₂ emissions, a crucial step in AMCO’s journey toward a cleaner environment.

EURO VI EMISSIONS TECHNOLOGY

AMCO’s new trucks are equipped with Euro VI exhaust emissions technology, including a cooled exhaust-gas recirculation system. This technology reduces nitrogen oxide and particulate emissions during combustion, making these trucks eco-friendlier than most.

ECO-SUPPORT FOR EFFICIENT DRIVING

To further promote fuel-efficient driving, the Actros L also comes with Eco-Support, providing drivers with valuable feedback on their driving styles through graphic evaluation. Elements such as acceleration, braking, regularity, and coasting are all taken into account, empowering our drivers to make eco-conscious choices on the road.

INVESTING IN SUSTAINABLE UK TRANSPORT VEHICLES

These 5 new Actros L trucks are a testament to our commitment to reliability, efficiency, and environmental responsibility. As AMCO continues to grow and evolve, we are leading the way in sustainable road freight movements in the UK.

As a global logistics and warehousing company, we have witnessed a notable market transformation in recent years towards sustainability. The spotlight within the UK logistics sector has predominantly been on the adoption of electric vehicles and the integration of solar technology.

UK Transport Vehicles Solar Mat

SOLAR TECH ADOPTION

Collaborating closely with solar energy equipment suppliers and in partnership with truck suppliers, we continue to champion the use of solar technology across our transport vehicles. Fitting solar mats to the roof of trailers is a fine example of this commitment.

Solar mats lower vehicle fuel consumption, resulting in reduced CO2 emissions. Furthermore, when integrated with our Transport Management System (TMS), they unlock additional fuel savings and CO2 reduction through vehicle route optimisation.

UK TRANSPORT VEHICLES FLEXIBILITY IS KEY

Mark Jones, AMCO’s Operations Director comments; “We recognise the need to remain flexible in order to meet the constant change in customer requirements as a result of wider market conditions.”

Mark continues: “To stay ahead of the curve, AMCO now utilise a mix of company-owned vehicles that comprise solar technology to help reduce CO2 emissions, and leased vehicles that enable us to react accordingly to market demands without affecting internal operations or planned contract work.”
AMCO is Planet Mark Certified Business

PLANET MARK CERTIFICATION

AMCO’s dedication to sustainable practices has been recognised with the achievement of its Planet Mark certification. This prestigious recognition is awarded to organisations that can demonstrate measurable progress in reducing their carbon footprint.

The Planet Mark programme thoroughly evaluates an organisation’s commitment to sustainability, assessing factors such as carbon management strategies, energy use, waste management, and employee engagement. This certification underscores AMCO’s commitment to environmental responsibility and solidifies our position as a transport and logistics industry leader.

AMCO’s commitment to sustainability sees us investing in alternative fuel technologies and energy-efficient vehicles. We are also in the process of optimising our delivery routes to cut down on mileage and are implementing effective waste management strategies. By making these strides, we are not only contributing to a greener future but also meeting the evolving needs of environmentally aware customers.
