2019 saw Amco winning a number of prestigious and high value contracts where the company could showcase the full extent of its capabilities. These new business wins are across the manufacturing sector and include some transport, logistics and warehousing for manufacturing businesses including mining giant Komatsu, the world’s largest automotive roofing systems manufacturer, Webasto Group, and Sertec Group, a Tier 1 supplier to automotive OEMs of automotive pressings.

Appointed by Webasto Group in 2019 to manage and provide the transport and logistics across their U.K. and European supplier base for their Automotive roofing system components collections was a major contact win. This win see’s Amco taking control of the existing transport schedules and as a result of benefit studies, deploying new planning and scheduling and developing and implementing plans to build and streamline the Webasto collections network, reducing lead time and achieving a reduction in inventory and improved accuracy in stock control.

Ash Lovewell, Head of Supply Chain Management for Webasto in the UK said “We value strong partnerships with service providers that can bring experience and a different way of thinking to the table. As part of the strategic project to completely redesign our sub-supplier transport network I personally found Amco’s approach unique and fully customer focussed. Their ability to integrate with our existing business systems and processes makes it feel like we have our very own transport arm of the company, always working hard to ensure our freight is moved efficiently whilst keeping an eye on service and satisfaction levels”.

AMCO were appointed, in a major contract win, by Sertec Group for the management and implementation of their network and transport requirements. This move in 2019 was to streamline their transport processes as part of the company seeking improvement inefficiencies and a cost reduction as part of their planned development and growth.

Founded in 1962, Sertec are a specialist manufacturer of automotive components in aluminium and steel. They are now one of Automotive’s largest independent stamping and assembly suppliers in Europe; The majority of Sertec production is integrated into vehicle bodies.

The business requirement for Sertec was to find a suitable partner strong in the automotive sector and with a good geographical base for transport and logistics management. The Amco services fit the requirement with the additional benefit of some added value services.

Head of Purchasing at Sertec, Jon Bramham said. “We are delighted to formalise our partnership and contract with Amco. They are a professional logistics and transport partner with the extensive automotive experience and knowledge that we need to manage our logistics, leaving our Sertec teams to focus on core skills and competencies and concentrate on manufacturing and business development”.

The transport and logistics contract will see Amco placing a dedicated transport planning team in the 145,000 sq ft. Sertec Logistics Centre at Hams Hall, to manage transport flow between Sertec’s five manufacturing facilities in the Midlands. The Amco Logistics Centre in Worcester will manage the transport and logistics requirement using Amco’s own fleet of vehicles, to distribute across the UK and Europe for Sertec manufacturing.

Sertec operate from 10 key locations and employ over 2200 people with a turnover in excess of £256m. The company has six manufacturing sites and a Logistics Hub in the U.K., plus a manufacturing site based in Germany and another in Hungary and a tooling operation in China.
